A little over 6 years ago we started moving the XC Ski and
Snowshoe trails off of the golf course and into the woods. I’m pleased to announce that we have finished
that goal! In a whirl wind of activity,
the last ½ mile of the trail has now been completed.
Local painting contractor Eric (Shaky) Lanthier took the
lead clearing trees. He and other
volunteers cut the upper hardwood section in the fall of 2018. This past fall he jumped in on the wetland
section once we had our APA permit. Once the lanes were opened up and we could
actually see where to go, the Town Highway Dept. jumped in.
The work accomplished over the course of the past few months
is astounding! The Town Highway Dept. was aided by every Dept. of the Village –
and they pulled it off. We completely renovated the trail from behind the 6th
green and built a new trail all the way down to the driving range between the
range and the Big Tupper road. All work was
done on Town property and included 3 wetland crossings.
We started the project with over $15,000 in donations. This money was used to purchase materials for
the bridges. Thank you for your support!
only got to ski the new section once by moonlight last week but what a great job. Thanks for all the hard work, now we just need some snow.
